It's really annoying that to power a computer from battery backup, the DC of the batteries has to be converted to AC, just so the computer can turn it back to DC. Why can't they also have a DC input?

I believe what you are looking for is called a laptop.

@OpenComputeDesign I get you. Point is, the concept exists, perhaps there is no good reason why someone doesn't power a server from DC from the get-go. Does the computer need no AC though?

@Absinthe It should only be the AC to DC power supply that needs AC. Everything else should run on DC.
