you wan't fame, assassinate a politician, even if you fail you're probably getting more fame than whoever it was who was involved in the most recent school shooting.

@dhfir as far as I understand, the point is to unleash your rage on the society indiscriminately, and they choose school shootings etc because it gives the most potential victims before getting owned.
Some of them are also trying to beat Cho's high score of 32 dead and 17 injured, which is only possible in places with high density of unarmed people, for which schools are a perfect fit.
