@thor Seems like there's an issue with the matrix server. It says to that the admin should check the SSL certificate

@moffintosh it's funny because i checked the certificates and it said they were all up to date.

and during the upgrade process, i already *did* restart the Matrix server.

all i did was restart it one more time, which shouldn't have changed anything.

@moffintosh when you try to be good with computers, you sort of try to figure things out so you don't have to reboot stuff unless forced to.

i've been doing this for 30 years. you'd think i'd be able to fix everything without rebooting it.

but nope, it's still necessary sometimes. the computer does something retarded and paints itself into a corner so it needs a restart. :blobcatgooglyholdingitsheadinitshands:

@thor @moffintosh then there's also the evil bit-flipping rays from space

@Amikke @moffintosh yeah, i imagine those are a bigger problem now than in the early 90s when i started out, because every transistor is tiny, so a particle from space can actually flip a bit now.

Follow

@thor @moffintosh that's… probably true, huh. I've never thought about it. It would surely be more difficult to flip a bit in a RAM so chunky it's actually hand-woven.

@thor @moffintosh not that I think that was the case in the 90s, just pointing out the extreme :p

@Amikke @moffintosh they used some fairly outdated hardware in the Hubble telescope because it was more space-proof. not sure if bit flipping was a concern, but i'm sure using chonkier chips probably didn't hurt. chonky anything is usually more radiation resistant.
