arch-chan when the user deletes the bootloader again or silly window deletes the grub again 😂 #linux

@nixCraft Does Windows ever actually delete Grub? I've never had that problem. Mostly it just sets itself as default, which is just a matter of going into the BIOS and changing the default back.

Though, come to think of it, as advanced as UEFI is, they should have it essentially act like Syslinux or something and able to load various kernels directly.

@nazokiyoubinbou that damn OS did actually get rid of GRUB entirely for me. Completely dead, inaccessible even from UEFI settings.

@zstg Oh wow. Well, I usually do it the other way around -- Windows first, then Linux -- and then this doesn't happen. But last I did do it the other way around it didn't actually clear out GRUB.

I guess the problem is UEFI -- it probably erased the EFI partition. (I wonder if doing a manual install, making sure not to erase that partition would help?)

@nazokiyoubinbou @zstg there was a problem some time ago where a windows update would mess the ESP up and make an installed linux unbootable, so not even doing it in that order is enough sometimes.
