i don't get onions man. sometimes i buy them at the store and some of the layers inside are already bad once i cut into it

other times i find one in the back of the fridge and i'm about to throw it out, but it turns out to still be perfectly fine despite probably having chilled back there for like half a year.

are onions just immortal as long as you store them properly or something?

@quad Welp, their primary purpose _is_ to preserve stored resources throughout the cold months of winter.

@quad no no, onions. Onion plants use their first year to gather resources into an onion, which sits underground for the winter and as soon as spring comes it sprouts out the second year version of the plant, which thanks to the gathered resources has an edge over the competition.
