For the upcoming collapse, have two things.
1. Solar oven. Can be done homemade with aluminum foil, box, and insulation (even newspaper)
No smell or smoke so joggers won't know you're cooking beans from miles away.
2. Pellet rifle
Ammo for the rifle is cheap and won't be too loud to hunt game with. Also keeps your self defense ammo separate from your game ammo in SHTF scenario.
Can't get as close to a deer with it as a real rifle but guess what? It's the apocalypse and no one will care if you shoot them at night while bedded. Or Turkeys while they're roosted on the tree.

@LakeViking An air gun is going to need regular cleaning and care because of the metal fouling from the pellets.
Break barrel spring loaders will cut down on the maintenance compared to a gas one too.
