@thor Android also moved away from the one thing that Java did well on every platform. Android had to change the GUI portions and mess up the language to the point where it was far more complicated than it should have been.

Dalvik was a huge leap forward for efficiency and performance. They removed a feature that made Java worth learning to implement flashy graphics and then made it more efficient. Why not use a better language?

This is one of the few compliments I will give Apple. Their version of C and use on all platforms was more effective and made it better to develop for. That is if one already had Apple products, development experience and a developer account.
