@thor Caffeine is in itself a quite bitter compound. Maybe it results in better extraction?

@pfpoitras @thor I can confirm that caffeine is very bitter. I believe that super critical CO2 is a bit better to extract the caffeine. I believe that benzene or toluene was traditionally used for the extraction of caffeine from coffee.

@AmpBenzScientist @pfpoitras it's alkaline so that's to be expected. i mix with fruit syrup and i have to add a lot more than with just pure water to get something palatable. the citric acid in the fruit and the alkaline caffeine counteract each other, i think.

@thor @pfpoitras In Chemistry: Alkaline chemicals have a biter taste also don't taste the chemicals.
