@ClaraListensprechen4 Lol I'm the Midwest fish was barely a thing. Took me moving to the coasts to learn to like sea food cause it is both cheap and fresh here

You sure as hell ain't Midwest if you don't do Large Mouth Bass, Rockfish, Sunfish, Drum, and Striper. You gotta be North Midwest for Walleye. Deal with it. :D

@ClaraListensprechen4 Most of our rivers in Indiana were too polluted to fish in, people had to go out of their way to get those. We didn't have the time or money for that.

Sounds to me like Indiana is an honorary eastern state. That whole stretch from Detroit to Cleveland was a dang rust belt.

Y'all oughta check out the Ohio River end of your state.

@ClaraListensprechen4 The big rivers were just big enough to purge its pollution. The closest river we had was the white river, too small to flush its pollution away. "Midwest" is a weird term. Apparently people as far as the Dakotas call themselves Midwest. IL, WI and MO are also considered in the rust belt. And yeah had we the money growing up I'm sure we could have fished the Ohio. I live in Philly now, but the few freshwater fish I had growing up was still better than most of the fish here in my opinion. except I never learned to like catfish. maybe required to be imported from less polluted areas made them taste less fresh.

It depends on the type of catfish, too. I suspect what catfish you had were Yellowbellies. Channel Cat is where it's at.
