@dan Yeah I recently moved back to KDE because of this kind of stuff. I tried it years ago and didn't like it, but it was actually quite usable this time.
@Demosthenes@qoto.org I put gnome on this box mostly for consistency with my laptop (Wayland hidpi fractional scaling, at which KDE didn't seem to be too hot when I tried it) plus vague and entirely unrealised thoughts that I could learn the mutter APIs and customise it to work how I actually want
