Just a thought, other people have said it. Why impeach a president that is supposedly leaving in a few days?
They can make a spectacle of it, but impeachment is a long process for a spectacle that could happen easier after Trump will be removed. Trump will be gone soon, right?

@GasGasGas it would do a few things. It would signal to trump that he has very little support. It would force politicians to publicly state what side they're on during a period that Trump's popularity tanked. And it would remove military powers from a man who has the potential to start a large civil war.
