This whole fediverse trend of responding to ideas about improving with moderation with "well just make a personal block list, there you go"

really need to die.

Personal filters and block lists are not "moderation" they aren't an affirmation of shared community values, they can't replace moderation to effectively stem the flow of hate content.

They don't meet the need.

If you don't have this need that is fine. There are places you can go. But lots of people do. jeeeeez

@futurebird There used to be trolls on AOL who loved flooding chat rooms with text, usually including gratuitous vulgarity. Sure everyone in the chat could ignore them and maybe they could also ignore the 20 alts they'd use to continue the attack indefinitely.

And maybe that would have been better because they wouldn't have gotten the rush but it's tiresome, people dislike that kind of place.

There are people who behave horribly in the world, they do bad things and they enjoy it.

Banhammer.

And many of such folks are addicted to the rush. It takes over their life. This is why It doesn't take very many individuals to create chaos.
