crazy amounts of heavy weapons going to Ukraine, it's no longer a javelin festival. They (we) must win at all cost and the west realizes that

war

@piggo where do you take that news from? cause a couple of T-72s and an S-300 does not a summer make...

war

@piggo I seriously wish the story with polish MIGs will play out similarly as it did with the Slovak S-300:
1. how about S-300?
2. mhhhmmm...
3. OK
4. Cheers
5. or not?
6. mhhhmhmmhmh...
7. ....
8. delivered!
9. cheers

But it's been now several weeks since the MIG gaffe, so I am not sure...

re: war

@FailForward theres talk of sk migs now, the zuzana self-propelled howitzers, there's been a transport of some heavy guns going east filmed today, some american stuff is also being delivered, they're getting or got some anti ship missiles too

re: war

@piggo thanks, I am trawling the comments. Let's hope it's something. Thanks for good news. I never thought I would be cheering for war, but if we all manage this right, we can live several decades more calmly. Methinks...

re: war

@FailForward i hope putin does something ultra stupid before the victory day parade (may 9) and it backfires in a major way (hopefully something other than using WMD). commanders will be pressured to bring home progress and so far they mostly progress in ruining the army and, to quote the geneva conventions, "wanton destruction of property"

re: war

@piggo In all honesty, those Slovak MIGs are a PITA. I don't know how many there are (11?), but actually only like 2 or 4 are operable at any time and even that only with Russian technicians stationed in the country all the time. I.e., those are rather spare parts in a form of a fighter jet packaging than operable aircraft anyway. The sooner they get rid of them, the better.

re: war

@FailForward yes the same was the case of the S-300, although the apparently managed to somehow patch it up before seeing it off. it's like a yard sale of old soviet shit all across europe

re: war

@FailForward it's not helpful if you can't read czech, but from here: https://www.armadninoviny.cz/specialni-diskuse-ukrajina.html

there's a lot more in the pipeline than some T's and the S-300 which is in ukraine for a few days already

re: war

@jordan

This is not a football match. Nobody wins in such a war. But since one party decided that it wants to have a conflict and named my society as their enemy, the choice of the side was made and is obvious, isn't it?

@piggo

re: war

@FailForward @jordan openly supporting the aggression is actually illegal, even if you had no common sense

re: war

@FailForward @piggo no as I don’t know where you live or anything about you.

re: war

@jordan @FailForward I really hope people taking the side of a genocidal maniac like putin aren't on this network, if they are, please point then out so I can block them

re: war

@piggo @FailForward no idea, I’m sure there are some out there. Personally I do not support Russia in this endeavor, but I found it strange that its actually illegal to support Russia. This is referring to your other post to someone else.

re: war

@jordan @FailForward in czech law, it's illegal to publicly approve of genocide or criminal acts, including terrorism. There even was an official statement that that law may be used regarding the invasion, and I think it already is. You would probably only get a fine though.

In Germany they banned using Z as a hate symbol, too

re: war

@piggo @FailForward actually I think I’m going to step out of this conversation as I’m confused. I may have missed some thing or misunderstood a post. Or a slight language barrier that I’m not able to overcome. Either way , this whole convo makes no sense to me lol.

re: war

@jordan

Look. It's odd to express who I am "cheering" for. The problem is the "cheering" part.

But I guess your question was simple a straightforward and deserves a simple straightforward response. I personally wish Ukraine will be able to protect its territorial integrity and its people in the face of this senseless and brutal Russian aggression. And since this assault, in effect, is also a direct assault on the security structures we built for ourselves in Europe, yes, I hope Russia will be forced to back off and stop threatening me and my society with their military actions apparently backed by very paranoid and, to me, absolutely incomprehensible imperialistic rhetoric.

So much to my hopes. I also realise that reality will play out in a much more complicated ways.
