@geekmomprojects apparebtly, you just need to follow a few folks who Boost a lot. :-) Or, follow hashtags. That seems to work well too.

@mark @geekmomprojects Exactly. I'm only about 36 hours in, and it feels very "stumble upon" to find "the good stuff." I'm starting witha very open follow philosophy. If I see someone say something moderately interesting, or boost a photo I like, I'll add. It's low cost enough to unfollow if that same person starts boosting/posting content i don't want.

The feel of my Home feed is much more organic than the bird site.

#FediFollows is a good tag to check as well and the account @FediFollows

Follow

@pseudonym

The concept here is not to go with the crowd, but to invest time to find what is "exceptional" to you, plant it in a garden, weed out and grow 🙂 . In the end, after you "plug-yourself" enough, the network will start speaking to you and you'll quickly notice what is exceptional content. At which point mute and unfollow feature becomes handy.

@FailForward @mark @geekmomprojects @FediFollows Fail forward, this is an excellent description of what I've been experiencing. I was over boosting a bit in the first few days (thanks for pointing that out mark), and easily following many, to "prime the pump" and get some content flowing.

It's important for new accounts like mine to be open to bringing stuff in at first that may be exceptional, or may not, to try it out for a while.

Thanks.

@pseudonym @FailForward @geekmomprojects @FediFollows back in the early days of twitter, the philosophy I heard was: “Follow freely. Unfollow more freely.” Seems applicable here too. It doesn’t seem so much a difference in the platform as it is a difference in the maturity and size of user base of each platform.
