25 December 1903 | A Norwegian Jewish woman of Lithuanian origin, Esther Karpol, was born in Krødsherad.

She arrived at Auschwitz on 1 December 1942 together with her sister Klara. Both were murdered after selection in a gas chamber.

@auschwitzmuseum I wanted to try to articulate what this account means to me. I have just finished a lovely Christmas day with my family and in the overall scheme, I don't have much to complain about. This is one of the accounts I force myself to read to make sure I try not to take that for granted. For those who celebrate, merry Christmas. For those who don't, love and peace to everyone.

@gbuchan @auschwitzmuseum , that account is so hard to follow, but it should be followed by everyone. The pictures are haunting. The three photos of an innocent victim puts faces to what are often just taught as numbers in school. We see a child, a worker, a tram driver, an engineer. Real people, murdered.
