@BlackAzizAnansi @adamgreenfield yep, basically last week in historic terms. And my point was that it is so recent that the legacy is still with us, if you know where to look.
@shaulawalko @BlackAzizAnansi @adamgreenfield I don't know... the 60s were BAD. I think we see it more, maybe, because we look, and we have cameras on our phones. And all the tre45onists are louder. But man... are we looking harder? I hope so.
@JonKramer @BlackAzizAnansi @adamgreenfield
The 60s were awful. No comparison to today’s strife now that you mention it. But yeah, the tre45onists (I like that!) are what I was referring to. Louder and bolder. Also, I live in a bright red zone (within the Temecula School District that’s all over the news right now), so the far-right-wing mentality is literally in my face everywhere I go.
@shaulawalko @BlackAzizAnansi @adamgreenfield O hold a vain hope that the reason you see it more, is because you are a good, observant person, and not that the problem is worse. Ya, I know, I'm probably wrong, but I hate to think of the 90s as being the peak period of the last 150 years.
@JonKramer @BlackAzizAnansi @adamgreenfield
I truly don’t think the problem is worse. We’re finally making decent progress. Some states are removing their civil war “hero” statues and removing the Confederate symbol from their flags, and we’re finally renaming some of our military bases. I think the problem is you-know-who dog-whistled a certain group of people out of the woodwork and gave them a banner. What bothers me is, does this group really make up a third of our country? I hope there’s not really that many of them.
@JonKramer @BlackAzizAnansi @adamgreenfield
And getting easier and easier to find.
