"When will Medicare start negotiating drug prices?
President Joe Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act into law in August 2022. That act gives Medicare the power to negotiate certain prescription drug prices for the first time Medicare will negotiate prices for a limited number of drugs each year starting in 2026: 10 drugs in 2026, 15 total in 2027, 15 total in 2028 and 20 total each year from 2029 on."
There are THOUSANDS of prescription drugs.
"There are more than 20,000 prescription drugs that are approved for marketing (FDA, 2020). About 66% of U.S. adults take prescription drugs (Health Policy Institute, 2021)." (google search for "number of prescription drugs on the market")
So maybe, if we stop developing new drugs, in 1000 years this law will cover all drugs.
This isn't acceptable. Not even a little bit.
