I've just received word that my beloved #printer (a Brother HL-2140) has apparently succumb to years and years of use.

This was a B&W only printer that served me well through much of grad school and into general use with kids.

I'm very interested in good recommendations for printers (or resources I should trust). Has to be #linux compatible and as little enshittification as possible: DRM-free cartridges; will print in black if color (not required) is out, etc.

Anyone know of anything good?
