"AI" companies need widespread adoption to reach critical mass, because they know their systems are way too massive to ever fit on an end user's system, or for there to be competition from small companies. It's a domination move by mega-monopolists.
@tekhedd TBH their typical production LLMs would fit on a $100k machine, and batching makes it really efficient to run stuff for hundreds of users simultaneously on it. Check out openrouter if you don't like feeding a monopoly.
