I rather enjoy how the internet is allowing humanity to become a networked intelligence on a much more voluntary basis. I find myself wondering if eventually it will reach a critical mass and we will become a series of hive minds.

I am thinking about brain/machine interfaces.

@Liberonscien brain-machine interfaces are a nightmare of mine. looking at the world, it is bound to end in a dystopic setting like in "strange days".

@bonifartius , it doesn't have to be internal. It could just be an external device that you wear on your head, calibrate, then use. Imagine putting on a special hat then thinking at your technology.

This would presumably be safer than implants. Couple this with monitors and one could have a phone that uses a mix of thoughts and touch as the interface.

@Liberonscien i think we often think more about the possibilities than dangers of new technologies. i'd have to note that i'd rather like see a slower society using technology where it's really useful, not wherever it may be possible. just think about how smartphones (and the dark ui patterns common nowaday) have fucked our brains into expecting constant micro-gratifications, while never being really satisfied by them.
