I had forgotten that your view of who someone follows is limited to those also on your instance.
Started to actively look for certain kinds of people to follow, and this feels rather constricting. What’s the idea, apart from conserving data transfers?
Because as a user it feels like #Mastodon / #Fediverse is trying to tell me to stick to my instance and that communication across the federation is a luxury. Off putting actually.
@maegul Pretty sure it's just a limitation of the platform. But there's an easy workaround! When you're on their profile, click their profile picture. That will take you to their profile on *their* server. So, at least for non-protected accounts, you should be able to see the full lists there.

@LouisIngenthron generally, it seems like the sort of thing that the client could sort out. But I’m not sure what the best approach is as it’s the sort of thing that can probably spiral out of control trying to effectively store or transfer the whole network graph.
