It's "Get your arse back to the office" time! My employer is asking that we spend some time in the office. They state the younger workers have expressed feeling a bit lost and disconnected. They want managers to have twice-a-month in person meetings with their direct reports.

@ThinkingSapien Literally busywork to make themselves feel better by driving down their own employees' efficiency...

Quite true. Not only does going to the office damage my efficiency, in some cases it lowers my capability. I simultaneously use 3 computing devices (among other peripherals) for what I'm working on and I can't replicate this setup in the office, especially since we must clear what ever desk we used at the end of every day.

@ThinkingSapien Wow, they're making you go into the office and they can't even be bothered to assign you a proper desk? That's just insulting.

I think they plan to consolidate space and don't want any space dedicated to any one person.

In any case, I often work on solutions with physical elements, such as depth sensing cameras and touch screens.

Previously I had desks (plural) where I could set that up and leave it. That doesn't work when you have one desk that must be clear.
