I sorta get why long, well-manicured nails are supposed to be a symbol of virility for attraction, but anyone who has nails longer than, like, an inch or two, (especially if they're fake) is just advertising how completely useless they see themselves. Why else would they so handicap their own primary tools for worldly manipulation?
@andykorth Right, but that's kind of my point. There are exceedingly few legitimate ways to contribute to modern society without the use of your hands.
So, giving them up is, in many cases, as admission that someone prefers and intends to consume more than they produce. Hence my choice of the word "useless".
@LouisIngenthron I think the message is that they are so well off that they can make a living without the use of their hands. (Like having hands with no calluses or (in ages past) no sun tan from working in a field)
