Microsoft and OpenAI say hackers are using ChatGPT to improve cyberattacks https://www.theverge.com/2024/2/14/24072706/microsoft-openai-cyberattack-tools-ai-chatgpt
@verge then turn it off? If I sold a product that was killing people it would be unethical to keep selling it
@lampsofgold @verge It's not killing people; hackers are using it to enhance their attacks. If I wanted to hurt someone, I could use a hammer to enhance my attacks over my fists, but that doesn't mean we should get rid of hammers.
@LouisIngenthron r u suggesting chatgpt has more collective utility than the hammer
@lampsofgold No, I'm suggesting they're both tools that can be used for benefit *or* harm.
We shouldn't blame the tool or its maker for the idiots who use said tool to cause harm, whether it's a hammer or an LLM.
@LouisIngenthron technically, the ford pinto could also be used as a tool for good
@lampsofgold If any hammers or LLMs start exploding, I'll be right there with you demanding a recall.
@lampsofgold Different "they".
