It couldn’t be clearer that #Trump wants to be thrown in jail to further his ludicrous persecution narrative and Merchan really, really does not want to do that for obvious reasons.
Trump is certainly in a position where he could force the judge’s hand.

@JoshuaHolland True, but that may be exactly what she's waiting for. An unequivocally heinous attack on the family of a judge to justify such a detention to the moderates.
Might even be egging him on with these low fines.
