The general sentiment I’ve been hearing anecdotally from Madison people (selection bias likely skews younger and educated) is:

1. This visit did not dispel the idea #Biden is too old and it clearly affects him

2. They would rather eat burning coals than vote for #Trump

3. They are furious at the #Democratic Party for not forcing Biden aside

4. They are worried about turnout from a candidate that doesn’t inspire anyone

@JasonPerseus@mas.to

How exactly would the Democratic Party force Biden aside whether "years ago" or now?

Is that how it should be? Some people in a back room picking the candidate? Because that's how it used to work.

@i_understand

By setting up a challenger and supporting them instead. It is literally what political parties do.

Is *this* how it should be? A candidate being forced on us because he’s the president and decided he wanted to run again so that’s that?

Remember—no one chose Biden this time around.

He won because no one significant ran.

@JasonPerseus @i_understand exactly Jason, no one else ran. Joe is old, but has also done so much for this country. Now is time for all the voters to vote D, give him support in the House and Senate to get things done. Why is this so difficult for people to understand. Government for the people, by the people.

@clane22 @JasonPerseus @i_understand I can't speak for anyone else, but I, personally, don't owe Joe a damn thing.

I'm loyal to the country first and the party second, and to an individual presidential candidate not at all. If I thought Joe could win, I'd back him 100%. But I don't. I'm worried for the country, and I think we need someone who can get people in the middle excited. And I'm far from the only one who thinks that.

@LouisIngenthron @clane22 @JasonPerseus @i_understand

Please don’t vote for Trump and please do vote for whoever is the democratic nominee.

Not voting for the democratic nominee is at a minimum giving Trump half a vote.

We must elect a president who is on the ballot who supports our constitutional representative democratic republic. If that happens to be Joe Biden, we owe it to ourselves to protect our best interests and vote for him.

@schmubba @clane22 @JasonPerseus @i_understand FFS, I'm a registered democrat. I'm voting for whoever's on the ticket, even if it's a moldy cheese sandwich.

I'm not who we need to worry about. It's the detached folks in the middle of the country who are inundated with news about how old and infirm Joe is and how Trump is going to save their jobs from immigrants. When they get a chance to see for themselves at the debate, Joe confirms every one of their worst fears.

Those are the voters you need to worry about.
