@LouisIngenthron you know, I was actually just thinking about this after my post, and the closest we come is in how we calculate allowance: 1/2 their age (in dollars). So, I guess they level up every birthday.
@Colarusso It would be interesting to have like a monthly decathlon where they take on one challenge for each attribute (competing against their past selves, not each other) and their resulting score determines their modifier for all related rolls in the next month.
A bit dystopian, and would probably have horrific consequences, but an interesting idea nonetheless...
