Interesting reporting from CNN on what we don't know about the mass shooter at the Trump rally in PA:

@ERBeckman Not every shooter is a mass shooter.
@ERBeckman Based on what?
@LouisIngenthron Links in the TPM story are internal or to a storty on the Michigan shooter that Crooks googled. Here's a story with information from official briefings:

@ERBeckman It sounds like the only point in favor of mass shooting was that he googled Crumbley beforehand.
But, given that this shooter used his father's rifle, and Crumbley's parents went to prison for letting him use their rifle, the stronger connection in my mind was that this shooter wanted to know more about where his liability ended and his parents' began. Maybe he just didn't want them to take the fall for what he was about to do.
@LouisIngenthron that makes sense wrt Crumbley. He also Googled the location of the DNC. We don't know and may not ever know his motivation, but calling it an assassination attempt is based on assumptions and as much circumstantial evidence points toward a mass shooting act. That's all that I'm saying.
@LouisIngenthron
Reports about what the FBI found on the shooter phone, plus lack of a known political motive. Links in this this post:
