@The_Colbobs it's not the first time that car manufacturers have cut corners, but when they can be liable for punitive damages.
Of course it's not "organisations" that are responsible but people. So I believe those in charge should be personally liable for negligence and criminal negligence unless there was a good reason for them to believe precautions were in place and working. Then the responsibility would cascade down to the manager who should have known.

There are arguably better and cheaper cars like X-peng and BYD. When they might make it to the UK in significant numbers though?
