現年53歲的沈斌是江蘇南通海門教區的主教，在就職時絕口未提教宗，卻強調將堅決貫徹共產黨指示，堅持宗教獨立自主自辦原則，推動天主教「中國化」。"
對西方軟和表態又一樁:
[ Bishop Anthony Sun Wenjun was ordained on Monday as the bishop of Weifang, in eastern China. That ceremony took place four days after the ordination of Bishop Thaddeus Wang Yuesheng of Zhengzhou, capital of the central province of Henan. Both ordinations were reported on the website of the government-controlled Chinese Catholic Patriotic Association, which oversees the church in China.
The diocese of Weifang is a new jurisdiction established by the pope to replace part of a missionary-era “apostolic prefecture” dating back to the 1930s. ]
梵諦岡趁機拉高姿態:

今天又多一位福建邵武教區的吳奕順主教：
“學者說，3例祝聖中最獨特的是山東濰坊教區，本不被中國承認，教廷1月29日在官方文件宣布，教宗去年4月20日就決定在山東設立新的濰坊教區，中國考慮8個月後接受教宗決定，「代表教宗不僅對中國主教任命有最後決定權，連對中國教區劃分都有最後決定權」。”
藏在閩北/邵武教區這個差異細節裡的政治角力暗流:
"新加坡大學亞洲天主教專家陳立邦(Michel Chambon)評論說：“聖座沒有選擇，溫和的教廷不會在中國政權面前呼籲反抗和犧牲。梵蒂岡宣揚中間道路，務實妥協，以便中國不再有地下教會。”然而，這位專家表示要相對地來看待中梵關係的緩和，他說，在吳奕順神父被任命的教區問題上，中國和梵蒂岡是存在分歧的：對中國來說，吳奕順是閩北主教，而梵蒂岡則說吳奕順是邵武主教。陳立邦表示，對羅馬來說，閩北教區根本不存在。"
