I want to see this place succeed so I’m just going to say it. We’ve got to do something about the vibe here.

If the golden age of Twitter was old friends catching up at the conference bar the night before the meeting starts, this place is the question-and-answer session the next morning, right after a junior researcher gives a plenary lecture.

Right now it's like twitter is a dive bar we used to love, but has crossed the line from 'charmingly grubby' to 'potentially disease-inducingly squalid'.

Mastodon is for now a cafe with excessively bright lights and no mood music. :P

@DrYohanJohn @ct_bergstrom If we all start humming quietly, I feel like we can supply our own mood music and make this work! I'm taking the stance of whoever I happen to run into next on Mastodon is my new best friend. It seems easier than trying to track down everyone I once knew on the bird app.
