macOS official mastodon app now allows image upload and image alt descriptions. Was it always this way or is it a new feature for this app? PSA: If you are uploading an image, please be thoughtful to those using screen readers and enter a succinct description.
@outofcontrol Is there a way for me to manage photos to attach alt-descriptions to them *once* and then re-upload that image without having to do the alt-description repeatedly?
@Romaq you wish add an alt description to the image while on your local machine, perhaps as EXIF data? And when you upload the image the data added will be used as a default alt description? I’m not aware if this is possible on mastodon, but, it is an interesting idea.
@outofcontrol I'm aware some data formats have a "description" field, and if that could be pulled out of the image by the Mast app (or web browser) that would be a huge deal.
