@GottaLaff
Meaning: We, the Humans around here, are in deep trouble.
Just thinking of the Covid-19 fiasco, we are not ready for this.
( maybe never will be either )
Herd Immunity become the thinning of the herd.

@GottaLaff I'm not sure we know that it is more deadly than Covid-19. Did you see some published evidence?

@GiddingsMJ I did, but can't remember where. I read a credible post that it kills 50% of those who contract it.

@GottaLaff It could be that the number of known human cases is so small that it is yet to be determined how deadly it is to humans.

@GiddingsMJ Maybe. BBC: "Relatively few people have caught the virus so far, but it has had a high mortality rate in those that do: more than 50% of people known to become infected have died. "

@GottaLaff @GiddingsMJ the last article I saw said that 463 out of 889 cases resulted in death over the past ten years, from 23 reporting countries. Mortality rates vary from 52 to 56 percent, depending on the time period you choose.

@kimlockhartga @GottaLaff @GiddingsMJ Early estimates of death rates are often overstated. What it usually means is that 50% of the people who got sick enough to require testing and hospitalization die. As with COVID, most of the people infected probably don't get sick enough to realize they have something unusual, and therefore get excluded from the statistics.

@GottaLaff @kimlockhartga @GiddingsMJ Not that I'm planning to take any chances should it become more common. Staying healthy is the best way not to die.
