I always welcome new forks, but I don't like this attempt to mislead users.
@Shamar The term "fork" has been coming up, but I do not think it fits the situation. Software can be forked, but we are not going to clone people. Maybe one could fork an organisational structure, but there is not much of a structure to #gnu. The #gnuassembly are people working on the same gnu software as before, but we try to develop a form of self-governance for the project. In fact some of your early members suggested to fork #GCC, on the GCC mailing list.
Just after RMS was removed by the Steering Committee. And the #FSF oversight with him.
I was not ironic about forks: #FreeSoftware is not #OpenSource: more forks mean more development paths explored.
They are always welcome!
But please, do not confuse users.
A new governance means a new project. That is fine! But be clear!
