What a pleasure to read @jswatz Twitter posting about teaching a disinformation module to his students in a sustainability class. Way back in the days of Marshall McLuhan, we were advocating for teaching all students to be media savvy- a tough sell to school boards focusing on state currriculum requirements and scores on standardized testing. Might some be more open to that idea today? #disinformation #falseallegations

When I was in middle school in the 70s, I had an elective class called “Buyer Beware”. We spent an entire semester talking about the ways companies market to us and they techniques they use to trick us into buying all the crap we don’t need. Of all the classes I had a middle school this was probably the most memorable and useful. I’m pretty sure nothing like that is taught today but I may be wrong.

@SpinozasHeresy @sunderlassie @jswatz That would have been a whole more valuable than the drafting class I took as an elective....
