A Thought Experiment ⏵
If you could design the perfect social network, would it revolve around this current concept of seeing EVERYTHING those that you follow post, or would you try to invent some newer model of engagement and filtering that makes it more precise, and/or less tedious at times?

I have a few ideas. I am sure others have many. We need a laboratory instance to test some of them.

I have created a bunch of lists (i.e. Artists, journalists, news organizations etc) in my profile.

I would like it if there were a way for a user to reflect a category or set of categories in their public profile. For example, an artist could click an “artist” box in in their profile same with journalists, news orgs, etc. This way they show up automatically in a pre-defined list. It takes a lot of time to curate lists and this helps new users with immediate procurement, also helps users to be self serving syndicators.

A new user should be able to log in, categorize their profile, and quickly create a bunch of categories of interest. Once that’s done they should be able to turn on an algorithm that either automatically develops their information stream for them or gives them tools to procure their own stream.

Features could include things like only procuring 30 items per hour or other iterations of time and information.
