One reason Fox has gotten away with it for so long is that legitimate news organizations have been reluctant to call out its irresponsible, unprofessional behavior. The original sin of Fox is the simple genius of the “fair and balanced” marketing ploy. By making the claim, anyone questioning it can immediately be dismissed as biased. It’s been the favorite tactic of the right ever since.
