I quite like this place. There’s an earnestness about it. No-one immediate shitting on my posts because they can. The shonkiness has an attraction too. Like a run down but favorite bar. A sense that people here are trying to build something and not rear people down. Maybe it won’t last and the Twitter hardball style will win.

Based on some long-forgotten memories of past mass migrations going way back to early bulletin boards, I'm expecting a certain amount of friction before everything settles down. Newcomers charging in head first, oldtimers caught between enthusiasm for sudden expansion and resentment of the new kids, and so on.

Let's hope we can all get along fairly smoothly.
