I don't like them so much for single words. But if everyone listened to me and used semicolons for separating out lists, we wouldn't need to have this debate.
@Spinybadger @nathanalbert Agreed. I find it especially necessary if the items in the list are of more than one word. A simple list of one-word items can go either way--but an Oxford comma is never wrong.
