@TJ_dacks That person may have set their account to require manual approval of followers. It's a bit different here. 😀
The user or instance may also block you or our instance. If you indicate who the user is I may be able to tell you if thats the case.
@freemo @nature_jcp um ok as an example... The user is @StarTrekHour@tenforward.social
I followed their link from Twitter and tried to follow, but it said I needed to input my own name@server and it kept saying I was doing it wrong. It always does no matter what account I'm trying to follow, never works. If I try to search the user name from qoto search bar it simply doesn't turn up. Zero results for the phrase "star trek" which seems impossible. But search is aggravating in it's own way so I'm not sure if it's an account issue or I'm formulating the search terms wrong.
@freemo @nature_jcp so that's weird because that user is not a she. It's one of Joe Window's accounts he's moving from Twitter
Its not the user who blocked us, its the entire instance. It is the admin of the instance that is a she.
@freemo
Ok i see. So the only way to know whether I'm just searching wrong or if I can't follow an account because people I don't even know have beef is to waste a bunch of time fighting the search bar.
This does not feel like a feature. I think it's past my bedtime.
@TJ_dacks NNo its a little easier.. just go direct to the users profile from inside QOTO.. click follow, you will knnow by how the button reacts if your blocked.
Sadly i know it should be more straight forward but sadly servers try to make it not obvious if your are blocked it seems, i guess for privacy or something.
@freemo what I'm saying is I cannot even get to, cannot find, the account within qoto search. With many accounts they just don't show up. Zero results.
@freemo @nature_jcp Joe Sondow, i mean
