In an interview with The Washington Post, Chief of the Main Intelligence Directorate Kyrylo Budanov stated that Russia will focus on the occupation of Donetsk and Luhansk regions this year. He believes that a renewed offensive from Belarus is unlikely, as it would only be a distraction for the Defense Forces. He also said that the troops must do everything to ensure that Crimea returns home by the summer, and that the threat of a nuclear strike in response to the entry of Ukrainian forces to the peninsula is low, as it would lead to Russia's military defeat and collapse.
