On February 2, the Volunteer House charity foundation reported that Russian forces had fired at volunteers in Bakhmut, resulting in the injury of five people. Among the wounded were two volunteers from Norway, Sander Søren Trelvik and Simon Johnsen. Sander's mother Greta Sørsven posted on Facebook that her son had been burned and had shrapnel in his body, but his internal organs were not damaged. Simon reported that they had gone to provide medical aid and were fired upon by the Russians.
