Kyiv authorities have exposed a criminal group that misappropriated more than UAH 10 million under the guise of fundraising for war-affected children. According to the investigation, the organizers registered several fictitious organizations and presented them as charitable foundations. They also set up a call center and hired contractors. The call center operators, posing as employees of charitable organizations, called entrepreneurs, representatives of various organizations and citizens of Ukraine with a request to join the fundraising. The criminals claimed that they were raising funds for the needs of children affected by the armed aggression of the Russian Federation.
