Top Russian diplomat found dead in Turkey

Nikolai Kobrynets, head of the Russian Foreign Ministry's pan-European cooperation department, was found dead in his hotel room in Istanbul's Taksim district.

It is known that the Russian diplomat had come to Turkey for a meeting of ambassadors. The Russian's colleagues tried to call him after he did not show up for the morning meeting. After that, hotel staff entered Kobrynets' room and found his body.

The press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed Kobrynets' death, but did not specify what caused it.
