A rescuer from Odessa from the now famous photo spoke about what happened to him on March 15 after the shelling of the city.
After the Russian attack on Odessa, houses were burning, and there were already the first casualties and injuries. Alexander Dontsov arrived at the scene with other rescuers and doctors. At this moment, the Russian army launched a second strike on this place.
“I just remember how I scream, my face caught fire,” Alexander said in an interview published by the State Emergency Service.
“I remember how I flew about 40 meters. Everything hurts and fragments hit me. It’s impossible to get up. I was afraid to open my eyes,” says Alexander. Then he crawled out and helped carry out his colleague.
“The last thing I saw before I passed out by the tree was the girl from the press service,” says Alexander about the photograph, which later appeared in many media outlets.
