Speaker of the US House of Representatives, Mike Johnson, promised to put to a vote the issue of financing aid to Ukraine. This will take place after Congress returns from the Easter recess.
"The speaker has made very clear statements that when we come back, this will be the next top item on the agenda . After we just passed all the bills that fund the federal government, I believe this will have overwhelming support in Congress, and we let's put the bill on the president's desk,"
The chairman of the intelligence committee Mike Turner reported.
The congressman noted that Speaker Johnson made it clear that he supports Ukraine, both directly to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and publicly.
"He made these statements publicly, as well as to the Secretary General of NATO," added the head of the intelligence committee.
The US House of Representatives should return from the Easter vacation on April 9 .
Turner expressed hope that the US Congress will be able to approve aid to Ukraine before the House of Representatives goes on vacation again from April 22.
"Of course, that's my hope. President Zelensky has made it clear to Speaker Johnson that we are at a critical point. The CIA director and the Secretary of Defense have all made it clear that we are at a critical stage that is starting to affect more than just morale Ukrainians who are fighting, but also on their ability to fight. Putin knows this. Obviously, we cannot allow Putin to win," he emphasized.
