The Macron who flew to Moscow to advise Putin not to do this from the other end of a ten meter long table, who listened to what ever gibberish and reasoning Putin had to say about why he had to do it. He saw Macron in a different light. Now he has turned his old friend and peace seeker into an implacable enemy. And it’s only just dawned on him it’s his own fault.
You might think this too simple, to easy. But history is riddled with personal leadership relationships that have gone right or wrong, and had amazingly good or equally dire effects on the world as a result. Something has finally clicked with Putin. The proverbial penny has dropped. He’s gone too far. Now he has no way out that ends well for him.
