Two years ago, Russia attacked the Kramatorsk train station, a place where civilians were waiting on evacuation trains. On April 8, 2022, approximately four thousand people were waiting to leave, a lifeline out of war-torn Donetsk, Luhansk, and Kharkiv regions. Kramatorsk was the main hub. According to Pavlo Kyrylenko, head of the Donetsk regional military administration, over 170,000 people had found safety through train evacuation before the attack.
At 10:30 a.m., Russian troops unleashed a barrage of "Tochka-U" missiles loaded with cluster munitions. A missile inscribed with the words "For the children" killed 61 people and wounding 121 others, all of which where waiting on evacuation. Ukraine will neither forget nor forgive this act of violence.
