‼️British Army veteran Sean Pinner, who since 2018 officially served in the 36th Separate Brigade of Marines named after Rear Admiral Mykhailo Bilinsky, fought on the side of Ukraine and was captured by the Russians in Mariupol in 2022, won a court case against the Russian Federation. This is reported by The Daily Mail.
The Solomyan District Court of Kyiv, to which Sean Pinner filed a lawsuit in October 2023, decided to pay material compensation for torture in Russian captivity.
➡️This case can create a precedent for thousands of Ukrainian soldiers released from Russian captivity, who suffered abuse and torture in captivity, to file their lawsuits against the aggressor country.
☝️ Sean Pinner himself understands that it is almost impossible to collect proper compensation from Russia now, but it will be possible in 5-10 years, when the power in the Kremlin changes and Russia will have to pay such compensations.
