Biden called on Congress to approve a bill that includes aid to Ukraine and Israel

US President Joe Biden, during a telephone conversation with the leaders of both parties in Congress, called for the speedy approval of the draft law, which, in particular, provides for the allocation of aid to Ukraine and Israel.

"The President discussed the urgent need for the House of Representatives to quickly pass an amendment to the National Security Act," the White House said in a statement.

Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, at a news conference, said there was consensus “among all the leaders that we had to help Israel and help Ukraine, and now hopefully we can work that out and get this done next week.”

The US House of Representatives speaker Mike Johnson has so far refused to hold a vote for the Senate-passed bill that includes roughly $60 billion for Ukraine and $14 billion for Israel.

"We’re looking at the options and all these supplemental issues.”, Johnson said on Fox News on Sunday.
